Located on the premises of Mosfilm, Russia’s most historically important film studio, this museum is a must-see for any fan of Soviet cinema.

On display are countless film sets, costumes, and objects spanning back to the 1910s. Included are sets that display older versions of Saint Petersburg and Moscow, retro vehicles from classics like The Diamond Arm and Seventeen Moments of Spring, and many other period costumes from memorable movies. They’re all located in a studio complex considered the largest in Europe.

There is also a collection of items from the country’s military history such as real weapons, kits, and machines from World War II that were used in various films. Classic car enthusiasts can find Soviet Ladas next to Rolls Royces from the 1910s inside the museum.

There are many famous museums and galleries around Moscow that are well worth visiting. However, while most are in the center of the city, the Mosfilm Museum is located in the more quiet western district. It’s the perfect respite from the hustle-and-bustle of downtown Moscow.
