This stone tower was restored by Llewelyn Baron Mostyn in 1897, to commemorate the 60th year of the reign of Queen Victoria. Though an inscription on the tower says that it was once a Roman pharos, there is little evidence supporting that theory. It may have been a windmill or a watchtower, according to other historic sources.
