This small but fascinating museum is dedicated to the history of Britain’s first police force. And no, it isn’t in London, as many would assume.

At this museum in Glasgow’s Merchant City, you can witness the stories of bravery and courage of those who served throughout years. You’ll see how police equipment has evolved over time, and will also find Europe’s largest collection of police uniforms from around the world.

The museum focuses solely on policing and the police rather than glamourizing criminals. However, its two retired detective volunteers are usually happy to chat about any famous crimes and will answer any questions you may have.

Know Before You Go

This museum is free to visit, but relies on donations. Group parties and children are welcome. Depending on the season, the hours and days of operation may vary. It is wise to check website prior to popping in to avoid disappointment.
