'World's Smallest Park'
A gap in the concrete has been transformed into a miniature playground for the mind.
This entry is a stub
Nestled in a 12-inch-by-12-inch plot of grass in Oakland, California, is a miniature park with a playground for the imagination. This gap in the concrete outside a storage facility holds a tiny green space. Approach with care, or you might step right on it! Equipped with a miniature swing set, slide, see-saw, and a bench to rest your weary mind, this little park is also enclosed by a tiny fence for protection. Although this park is small, it will bring great joy to those who play in and around it. Green spaces in cities can be hard to find. See if you can spot this treasure! Update February 2019: Sadly, the World’s Smallest Park has been recently vandalized. Several of its structures are now gone, but a few remain. The makers of the park are working on gathering community support to update the park with more permanent features. It will be an ongoing saga to keep up this park, just like its larger park counterparts in Oakland.
Update May 2022: Unfortunately the park was paved over and no longer exists.
