This tower is the second highest vantage point in Whanganui offering the best view in the city and built from shell rock. Designed to commemorate fallen soldiers in World War I, construction started in 1919 but didn’t open until 1925 and has 176 steps.
Know Before You Go
Closed after dusk and before sunrise.
You can park at the bottom of the hill and pay $2 to ride an elevator to the top of the hill. Free for children.
