Changhua City, Taiwan

The longest skywalk in Taiwan.

Completed in 2016, the Mount Bagua Skywalk winds through the forested hills of Changhua, giving walkers fantastic views of the city. The skywalk passes over botanical gardens, a military cemetery, old Japanese barracks, a baseball field, and a local high school. During the right time of year, walkers are treated to a medley of colorful flowers and butterflies, and parts of the skywalk are often decorated to celebrate holidays and other events.

The skywalk is a popular walking trail for locals looking for some early morning or late afternoon relaxation and exercise. There are placards along the trail with information in Mandarin and English about the flora, fauna, and landmarks one might encounter along the way.

It’s an easy and accessible walk, but the entrance at the eastern side of the Great Buddha Temple can be tricky to find, and the entrance on Guashan Road is not accessible to those with mobility issues.

Know Before You Go

The entrance is on the eastern side of the temple, towards the back. There are usually market stalls in the area and the friendly locals will be happy to show you where to go.
