Pampadum Shola is declared as a national park in 2003 and is located in the eastern part of Southern western Ghat of Kerala on the way to the popular place Vattavada near to the misty top station. The fauna includes more than a few threatened, rare or widespread species. The numbers of rare and common species found were high when the extent of Shola forest is full into consideration. There are regarding 14 species of birds, 100 species of butterflies, 9 species of mammals and 93 species of moths verified from the Shola.
