Samuelson's Rocks

A homesteader leaves his mark on the rocks of Joshua Tree National Park.

A collection of rocks inscribed with political and philosophical sayings by John Samuelson, a homesteader in the 1920s whose land is now part of Joshua Tree National Park. There’s no official trail to get there, making them difficult but not impossible to find. In the same general vicinity there’s an old water pump that still works.
