Found site by google for haunted mental asylums after discussing movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. I have been interested and reading about Virginia history for 6 years now. I have also worked with people who had been misdiagnosed and locked up in mental asylums for decades. I have personally seen the mismanagement of deinstitutionalization. And then I remember the culture shock of moving from NJ to VA at 8. Desegregation and redrawing district lines and the arguments over the first census. Ultimately if you had 1/16th black blood in you then you were black in Virginia. My grandfather argued on Brown vs Board of Education. The experience was horrendous and shocking as I had never been exposed to prejudice nor die hard confederates until then.
My youngest daughter loves visiting haunted places of which there are many in Virginia.
All my kids and I have always enjoyed reading about the unusual and then the history of how words, tools, etc have been created.
