Martyn Whittock has written numerous educational and history books, including Tales of Valhalla and Mayflower Lives, both available from Pegasus Books. He has been a consultant for the BBC, English Heritage and the National Trust in the UK; and has written for a number of historical journals. As a historian and columnist, he has a particular interest in the way that the past impacts on the present and the way that modern societies use “deep stories” (drawn from versions of the past) in order to communicate (often contested) modern identities. He has a particular focus on the way this occurs in the USA, the UK, and Russia.
