Matthew H. Ward is a historian and boxing journalist who is the author of numerous published articles in print and online media sources. He is a native of Matawan, New Jersey, who currently lives outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his wife Sarah and daughter Kiera. He holds a B.A. in History and Culture from Arizona State University and an M.A. in History from Rutgers University-Camden. Ward has served for over 15 years as an officer and civilian in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve.
